DAY 1
Arrive in Lima
Welcome to the thriving capital of Peru. Spend the evening exploring the historic Central Lima, bustling Miraflores, or the bohemian Barranco. You can also experiment with the famous Peruvian cuisine or maybe just put on your dancing shoes, even if you have two left feet.
DAY 2
Fly to Puerto Maldonado
This is the day your adventure begins. Fly to the capital of Madre de Dios, Puerto Maldonado. From here you will be traveling an hour on-road and 2.5 hours on a boat to reach the heart of the Amazon experience. Watching the sun go down around amazing forest landscapes will give you a surreal feeling but the fun has just begun, so get comfortable in the cosy eco-lodge.
DAY 3
Tambopata National Reserve
Tambopata National Reserve is one of the most biodiverse reserves on earth and home to beautiful large macaws and different species of parrots. The Bird viewing will be early morning at the crack of the dawn to give you a wholesome experience. During the day, there is a trail of 5 kilometers surrounded by creeks and ponds giving you a perfect opportunity to explore the Amazon on foot. You can end the evening with one of the spectacular sunset cruises that reflects the perfect oranges and pinks on the river water.
DAY 4
Cusco & Acclimatisation
Fly to the south-eastern city of Peru, Cusco, and acclimatize yourself since the town is located at an elevation of 3400 meters. Let the tradition and Peruvian culture wrap you in this timeless historical city. It is strongly suggested that this day should be spent only relaxing and exploring and no excursions should be undertaken to make sure that the altitude of the city does not affect you adversely.
DAY 5
Sacred Valley
It is going to be an action-packed day after a relaxing time yesterday. You will be taking an awe-inspiring ride to Pisac and explore the Inca temples first thing on your arrival. Next on agenda is walking through the traditional market where you can bargain your heart for all the colorful textiles in the world. Experience the “Breadbasket of the Incas" on your drive to Urubamba. Post lunch, climb the stairs of the Temple of the sun and later catch a train to Aguas Calientes where you will be spending a night.
DAY 6
Machu Picchu
Experiencing the first rays of sun touching the ruins of "Lost City of the Incas" is exactly what we came for. So we will wake up early to chase the dawn and experience the legendary tour of Machu Picchu. You will have ample time to get lost in the maze-like construction or climb Huayna Picchu. After coming back to Aguas Calientes, you can bathe in the hot spring baths and relax your sore muscles from all the hiking before heading back to Cusco.
DAY 7
Belmond Andean Explorer
Embark on the ultimate Peruvian escape and journey from Cusco to Arequipa in style with this luxury train. This journey has got to be a "must" on any traveler's itinerary. You will depart from Wanchaq Station in Cusco. Your lunch will be on board, followed by a tour of Raqchi and La Raya. Later you can lounge in the Bar with cocktails and get to know your fellow passengers. Overnight stay will be at Lake Titicaca Station.
DAY 8
Sunrise at Lake Titicaca
After breakfast, you will be boarding boats to explore Lake Titicaca. You will also be island hopping to Uros and Taquile. Lunch will be a private affair on Collata Beach along with traditional welcome dancing and artisanal craft displays. Your evening will be free to catch a nap or maybe just watch the mesmerizing highlands scenery dissolving into the water spirit of Andes. Overnight stay will be at Saracocha.
DAY 9
Sumbay Caves & Arequipa city
Enjoy your last day on the train by traversing the Colca Canyon. This gigantic canyon is almost double the depth of the grand canyon and if you are lucky, you will sight the "Andean Condors" which are the largest raptors in the world. Since this will be your last stop before you head to the bustling city of Lima tonight, maybe you would like to take a breathe and reminisce about the beautiful journey you have had so far. Later on, hop on the train for lunch and bid your farewells to your fellow travelers. Once you disembark at Arequipa Station, you have an option to take a panoramic city tour before heading to the airport for your late flight to Lima.
DAY 10
A Day in Lima
A day in Lima is full of possibilities depending on what you like. You can take a bicycle tour around downtown Lima exploring the historic center, the Plaza de Armas, and the colonial-style buildings or you can spend your time on a beach brushing your surfing skills. You can also take a walking tour to Barranco where there is a blooming art scene or you can swim with Sea Lions at Palomino’s Island. As we said, the possibilities are endless and so is Peru as a destination.
